Zainab Awale Reflection #2
Zainab Awale Reflection #2
This was our group's second presentation. I was so happy when I found out that our groups were not going to change for further presentations. I feel like the members of the group and I have developed a good relationship. The fact that we get to work together the entire semester brings me joy. I sort of know how each person works. For this presentation, me and Monica took over. We led the group and guided them for each section of the project. She was so much help.
Unexpectedly long
I truly did not know that this presentation was going to have several parts. The first day this presentation was introduced I was very confused. Our group chose Anxiety as our topic. I understood the part where we needed to have a PowerPoint on that. However, I was confused when each group got assigned chapters from the book. I did not understand what the chapters had to do with the PowerPoint. All the members of my group were also lost. The following class, I asked Professor Sinkoff to explain that section and she did. The chapters in the book were just for the class to have a little overview of information from the textbook. So when everyone understood that part of the assignment, our group went straight to work!
Tailyn helped us with creating a shared Word document ( because I did not know how ) to send to group 3. Our group split chapters and each person had a couple of lessons to cover on their own. Then we summarized everything and inserted it into a chart. Step 1 of the project is done!
Study guide? Agenda?
The following class Professor Sinkoff asks the class about the agenda. The funny thing is that I thought the study guide and agenda were the same thing. Once again I seek help from the Professor to explain that section of the project. Turnsout we need to make like an order of who will present in the group. We also have to insert an overview of what each of us will be talking about in the presentation. After we all understood the agenda, we went straight to work. Professor Sinkoff had asked the class to have the agenda as soon as possible so our group attempted to finish it. Once we did, we sent it in.
Powerpoint slide
This was another section in modules that also needed to be included in the PowerPoint. My group's idea was to introduce different types of anxiety in our presentation. However, we forgot that we needed to include what is in this picture. So, I decided to call Monica and ask her to help me find a way to organize our points to distribute what each member of the group will be doing. Thankfully, we came up with a solution to have two people introduce two of the topics that werelisted. I was in charge of giving the history of anxiety along with other key factors. And Paulette was in charge of research regarding anxiety. The rest of the members introduced the different forms of anxiety. We wanted to make sure that no one was left with extra work. So me and Monica ( and hopefully the rest of the group) can agree that the assignments were equally split.
A trick I used that helped organize a plan or outline of the presentation was using the notes app. Monica and I first texted in the WhatsApp group chat to group three telling them to choose from the following forms of anxiety. Monica researched a couple and sent them to the group chat. This motivated the members of the group to quickly pick the form of anxiety they wanted to research. Once all the members selected their anxiety, we were able to organize the PowerPoint.
To this day, I still do not know how Monica made the PowerPoint with such a cool template. She took leadership in making the PowerPoint and sharing it with the group so that they could enter their slides. When I received her email and previewed the PowerPoint for the first time, I fell in love. The slides went exactly with our topic; Anxiety. This saved the group a lot of time because there was no need for us to edit the font or display it. After all, Monica had it ready.
Now what was left was for each member to work on their slides. Every other day I would try to send reminders to our group to check in on how they are doing with their slides. I love how creative each person gets when making their part. All that was left was the brochure.
Tailyn to the rescue
We left the brochure for last because I thought it would be simple to make. However, I was a little lost. But once again, Tallinn came to the rescue. I texted her very late at night with questions regarding the brochure. She was more than happy to help. She explained it so well that I knew exactly how to do it. She even helped me research some locations to add to my brochure. I am extremely happy that she helps our group even though she is not in it anymore. She does her job as a class leader very well!
Overview
I am happy that the presentation went well. I did not feel nervous at all. You can also tell that each member was very educated about the topics we covered. Regarding the other groups, I truly do not have a clear memory of theirpresentations. In my opinion, this presentation was very challenging and I had my full focus on my group. It was a big project so I wanted to make sure we did it the right way. However, I did make sure to review the other group's presentations back in panto videos. I like how group two's PowerPoint was very abstract. They used a lot of colors and bigfonts that I believe go with their topic. The only advice I would give to group two would be to have fewer words in their slides. What helped me was having an index card to study what I was going to say rather than writing everything on the slide. Group 1 presented the following class. They got lucky because they had extra time to turn in their agenda. At the beginning of the presentation, Regina was having some network issues but still managed to introduce the group. Group one had multiple videos on their slides. It was cool to see but I think they should limit the amount of videos they use for future presentations. Overall, I can say that I learned a lot in this presentation. It was a lot of steps but our group managed to complete everything the best way possible.

Excellent. Yes Tailynn is a wonderful leader. Beautiful writing.
