Anxiety

Anxiety was the topic that we presented, and it was extremely helpful for me and for everyone, Anxiety refers to anticipation of a future concern and is more associated with muscle tension and avoidance behavior. Anxiety is an intricate, this means it is an emotion that manifests in a lot of forms and intensities, affecting the person who has it. Anxiety is a big feeling of unease, worry and apprehension that can arise from numerous sources. Thanks to my group for explaining this, it helped me a lot to understand more about the anxiety and about the anxiety history. In 1600 started the melancholia. The melancholia condition was people that felt sad, depressed mood, bodily complaints and some times hallucinations and delusions. In 1700 scientists realized anxiety symptoms could be categorized, this was very helpful to discover anxiety and what was happening with that problem. Then in 1952 it was the first ever diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders was published in (DSM), this helped a lot to find the way of anxiety and what was exactly happening. Anxiety is a natural response to perceived threats or stressors.

This presentation was very helpful because it talked about the forms of anxiety, anxiety is not just anxiety, anxiety has more groups of anxiety like; panic disorders, social anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, post traumatic stress disorder, separation anxiety, thanks for my group now I know all of this anxieties problems and forms.

Vickiana Nazario helped me a lot to understand about the panic disorder; Panic disorder is an anxiety disorder characterized by unexpected and repeated episodes of intense fear accompanied by physical symptoms These attacks are characterized by a sudden wave of fear or discomfort or a sense of losing control even when there is no clear danger or trigger.

An example of this is someone that deals with recurrent panic attacks while driving. These attacks might be triggered by factors such as traffic congestion or being on a highway, leading to intense fear, sweating, trembling, and a racing heart. As a result, the person might avoid driving altogether, which can significantly impact their ability to commute, run errands, or participate in social activities. This avoidance behavior can further exacerbate the anxiety and reinforce the fear of driving.

She also explained the symptoms of panic disorder, it was; sudden and repeated panic attacks, feeling of being out of control, impending doom during panic attack, intense worry about next panic attack, fear of places where panic attack have occurred physical symptoms during panic attack like; pounding or racing heart, sweating, chills, trembling, difficult breathing, weakness or dizziness, tingly or numb hands, chest pain and stomach pain or nausea. Then she explained the solutions for the panic attack that was; cognitive behavioral therapy, medications, support groups, lifestyle changes and avoiding triggers.

Then Nicolas Mejia presented about anxiety social disorder, this one is one of the most commons characterized by persistent and excessive worry about everyday events and activities. Social Anxiety is a mental problem that involves feeling intense and persistent of being observed and judged by people.

This is a common type of anxiety disorder. People with social anxiety disorder feel symptoms of anxiety or fear in situations in which people may be analyzing, evaluating or judging them.

An example; talking in public, meet new people, go out to a date, assist to a job interview, answer a question in class or talk to a store cashier or do things of your daily routine like; eat or drink in front of people or use a public bathroom can cause fear and anxiety due to worries about being humiliated, judged, or rejected.

Nicolas Mejia also talked about the symptoms of this problem of anxiety, it was; turn red , fast heart beats, feel that their mind goes blank, talk with a bad posture or low voice, have trouble to make eye contact, feel insecure and avoid places with people, the solutions are

Psychotherapy, medicine, antidepressants, beta blockers, anti anxiety medications.

This was very helpful to understand everything about social anxiety, now Nikolas presented and talked about PTSD another form of anxiety, he told us that Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) is a mental health condition that is triggered by terrifying events, whether it is witnessing or experiencing it. For example, when I was a child, I had watched a scary movie where this guy was asleep, and a cockroach had crawled into his mouth and turned him into a monster. Since that I had always make sure to cover myself completely when going to bed. When I would see a roach, I would run away and have my parents deal with them. Another example of PTSD, and this is a very popular one, but this involves war. Many army men have experienced much deaths, suicides, lack of sleep, and pain. He also talked about symptoms like; flashbacks, dreams or nightmares and memory problems, he told us the solution was validate the experience, seek support, take a break and listen to your body, then the next presenter I don't remember the name but also talked about another anxiety form that was the OCD Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a long-

Lasting disorder that will have people experience uncontrollable thoughts or obsessions and repeats behaviors.

THE SYMPTOMS ARE; Fear of germs, forgetting, losing control, aggressive thoughts over others, intrusive unusual thoughts, desire for symmetry and, Excessive cleaning, rearranging items that the person sees fit, repeatedly checking things, compulsive counting or ticks, and repeating words. treatment is the solution for OCD, Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy CBT, Exposure and Response Prevention ERP Meditation this was very helpful to understand this form and everything about anxiety, I really want to thank the teacher Sinkoff and my classmates for explaining this topic that was very interesting for me, also it was a very good experience because the presenters was very good and organized with the presentation, thanks for your attention and have a great day.
