Paulette Landivar Reflection #1

Again?

I wont lie, when it comes to solo presentations it can be nerve-wrecking, my hands get sweaty I start over thinking about anything that may go wrong, but with a group dynamic we chilling. Doing group presentations or anything group wise is pretty challenging .Over the years, I’ve been through the choppy waters of group presentations many times, and each experience has taught me invaluable lessons about problem solving and effective communication. The group also has a big factor in group projects, I cant lie group 3 is the best I’ve had in years. Let me take you through my personal journey and share the insights I’ve gained along chapters 3,9 and 10. , I'll share my experiences and insights on leading group presentations, communicating effectively within a team, and navigating the complexities of intercultural communication.

We will start with chapter 10: group leadership and problem solving
Chapter 10 was my group, group 3. We were ready to get it out the way and start presenting as soon as class started. At the beginning it was a little rough patch with presenting the group members, and without communication it was a bit confusing. It took a while to get it right but we went over the rough patch.

We started off with tailynn. She was the best , she helped us through the brainstorming. She explained the points about leadership which fit her very well. She explained how when being a leader you need to have a vision, be honest, understand others, need to be flexible and you are the head of making decisions. Being leader you have to identify each members strengths and allocate tasks accordingly. By assigning us tasks that matched their strengths, we were able to produce a high-quality presentation. Zainab explained the types of procedural roles, the leadership responsibilities which is what i stated before. Nicolas was next one in line.... he forgot to turn on his camera🙊but he still did good presenting, we all forget something and notice after. After it was the other nickolas in the group, Nickolas was pretty good he knew what he was talking about, he did seem a bit nervous by the way he was playing with his hands😅. Micheal was talking about decision making which is a really important step in group projects. Monica, bro her slides were really cool, i tried to make it like those but honestly it was a bit hard but i tried my best;). She did awesome in stating the main points from her sections and she learned all of her information . Did a pretty good transition. Now its me... i will be honest i was still nervous even if its through zoom, i kept on saying uh or um because when i present i forget my information!! Last but not least vicki, she taught us the importance of group communication and group work. Also how we all have to add our input and how we should be honest which we did pretty good.

Now its group 2 with chapter 9 communicating in groups. Communication is the backbone of any successful group presentation. From my experience, transparent and consistent communication keeps the team aligned and motivated. Its actually funny how looking back into the recordings, i know maya! I met her at a party in middle school. Maya expressed the importance of communicating with family can bring lots of trust and stronger bonds, social groups really help when ever you need someone to talk to. Jasmine talks about social groups, which re groups that come together when they need to express themself like AA.As well as interest groups , which explains it in the name... INTEREST.(useful for when you need something). Jesus talks about service groups which help voluntarily to the world and work groups which is what we are now.(kinda funny how "jesus" talks about service groups) Katherine explains how healthy groups work. Kameron is such a vibe when he said "i blacked out" because me too lol. Anyway he describes the development of groups. Henry got right into it on s step by step on how groups work like creating the topic in the groups, brainstorming and trusting each other. The rest of the group honestly just read off the slides:( it didn't catch my attention. From what i understood Implementing these strategies transformed the workflow.

Finally, group 1 with chapter 3 intercultural communications. Ashley was pretty comfortable explaining her slides and she knew what she was talking about. I like how she made personal examples so it would be easier to understand. Claudis, pretty straight forward with the information and outspoken. Those are the only members of the group that in my opinion were articulate. With good rehearsal and preparation this presentation could've gone easier. I don't want to sound rough but what's the point in presenting or teaching if you just read off the slides(doesn't only go toward students). Not saying that group 2 and 3 were perfect but i do believe they did a better job by knowing what they were talking about and by communicating. Chapter 3 taught me that intercultural communication isn’t just about overcoming barriers; it’s about leveraging diversity to create something unique.

As i said before, taking about tailynn , well typing about her she became a class leader! That role fits her perfectly. Group 3 will miss her and we wish her the best! Regina did get better at the introductions and conclusions. She did a pretty good job at them, a little messy at first but we aren't all perfect the first time around or never honestly but we are better.

Overall, Monday's class taught me that by embracing leadership responsibilities with clarity and collaboration, encouraging transparent and respectful communication, and establishing multicultural differences with adaptability, we can transform problems into opportunities for growth and success. Each group presentation taught me new things about collaboration, leadership, and communication. Remember that it is not enough to simply deliver a message; you must also connect with your team and audience in a meaningful and compelling way.

Till next time!
