Communicating in groups

Communicating in groups is very important. Communicating in groups is fundamental for better team work and group formation. If everyone can communicate, everyone will work better together, and it will be less conflicts and misunderstandings

Thanks to this class and to the group #2 I learned a lot more about communicating in groups, and know I know that there is different types of groups, there is; family groups, social groups, Interest groups, Service groups, Work groups and teams and virtual groups.

With families' groups I learned that this is a group of people who through their communication generate a sense of home, group identity, history, and future.

With social groups I learned that this is a group composed of people who have a genuine concern about each other’s welfare and enjoy spending time together.

With support groups I learned that is a group composed of people who come together to provide encouragement, honest feedback, and a safe environment for expressing deeply personal feelings about a common problem

With interest and services groups, I learned that the Interest groups: Member share common interests, hobbies, or activities. And Service groups: Members come together to perform hands on charitable works or raise money to help charitable organizations.

With Work groups and teams, I learned that work groups are composed of three or more people formed to complete a task and work groups teams has: An appropriate number of members with diverse skills and viewpoints, clearly defined goals and explicit roles and rules for members.

With Virtual groups I learned that members meet via technological media from different physical locations.

In the presentation Communicating in groups by team number two, I also learned that there is some characteristics of healthy groups, the first one is to have Ethical goals, this means to have some goals that benefits the group members and the larger society, we have also Interdependent, member rely on each other skills and knowledge to accomplish the group goals, we have cohesive, forces the group to be closer and together, productive norms, this means to have expectations about the way group members are to behave, Accountability; members are held responsible for adhering to group norms and working towards the group's goal and we have synergetic; this force the group multiplies when working together.

They also talked about Stages of group development, they said that there was forming; this means is characterized by orientation, testing, and dependence, storming; characterized by conflicts and power plays, and norming characterized by increased cohesion, collaboration, trust, and motivation to achieve a group goal.

Tehy also talk about performing this mean skills, knowledge, and abilities of all members combined to overcome obstacles and meet goals successfully,

Adjourning; characterized by celebrating goal achievements and disengagement.

And transforming, they said that transforming means having the group continue to have a new goal.

The next topic they talked about was Conflict in groups, The conflicts in groups happens when there is a disagreement in two or more persons about the objectives, goals, missions or methods, they talked about how we can solve the conflicts and why it is important, conflicts in groups are inevitable and requires management, is directed toward other members, ideas or both, they talked about pseudo conflict something completely new for me so it was very interesting, they said that it occurs when a group member who actually agree about something believe they disagree due to poor communication and its resolved through effective listening, perception-checking, and paraphrasing, they also talked about Issue related group conflict that it occurs when two or more group members, goals, ideas, or opinions about the topic are incompatible

They also mentioned personality- related conflict this is when groups members become defensive because they feel like they are being attacked, Culture and conflict: this is when people from different cultural groups have unique communications norms and the last one they talked about was Virtual groups and conflicts; lack of one's ability to engage in nonverbal communication makes it difficult to understand and manage conflict in virtual groups. I really want to say thank you to group number two because now I know all of this that it is important, and I can be better on the topic.

On my presentation, I'm very happy about the team I have, I have a team that is really responsible, being responsible is very important and that is the first thing a team needs to succeed, my team also is very respectful, something that is essential to a good team work and also the team is very collaborative, they are always helping each other and specially me, that is a little difficult to understand English and more when is talked to fast. When we started the presentation I was a little anxious because I wanted get rid of that as soon as possible, to be honest when we started It was a bad begining because The first presenter had technology problems, she couldn't read because she had a problem with her device and I thought the teacher was going to take us points because that, but the teacher was very nice and she understood that was a understandable situation, so somebody read the introduction and then everything went nice, everything was going amazing but then It came my part of the presentation, I always join the class on my phone because at that time I'm always in my way to my job, so I turn on the camera but I didn't know that if I go to another app my camera turns off, so when I turned on my camera I went to notes so I don't miss any of the key points and KABOM!, My camera was off all the time, At first instance I was very sad because I thought the teacher was going to take me points because that but she was very nice and understood the situation. I want to thank all my teammates for everything and to my teacher for being so special and nice. Thank you for your attention
